Assistere ad una sfilata è come osservare il cuore e la mente di uno stilista che si aprono al pubblico per trasmettere un’emozione. Per questo per me è stato un piacere ed un onore partecipare alla sfilata CON-TOUR-NOIR 1 del brand Irvinx all’Atelier Neerlandais a Parigi. La mente creativa di Irvinx, Irvin Vorster, è un eccentrico couturier olandese che ha debuttato nel 2004 e che da allora crea pezzi sperimentali, di qualità e con prodotti sostenibili, adatti per una donna elegante ma che non ama passare inosservata.
CON-TOUR-NOIR 1 venerdì scorso non è stato da meno. Per il suo debutto alla Paris Fashion Week, Irvin ha voluto «raccontare una storia», come lui stesso mi ha detto dopo lo show (che prevederà anche una parte 2), tramite pochi look contraddistinti da un’assoluta maestria e da una grande ricerca sul taglio e sul contrasto dei tessuti. Le sue modelle avevano il passo felpato e un trucco grafico davvero intergalattico. Gli abiti, voluminosi e dal taglio strutturato e asimmetrico, accoglievano un’ampia gamma di tessuti: pelle, satin blu, rete, trapuntato. Un mix perfetto fra una donna futuristica e un’anima punk. «Tutti hanno un lato buono, ma hanno anche un lato oscuro: io volevo mostrare quello». Pochi accessori, tranne una borsa e delle maschere di cartone per dare alle indossatrici quel tocco misterioso in più.
Un discorso a parte, infine, lo merita Irvin Vorster stesso, che oltre ad aver mostrato capacità di stilista esperto è stato anche estremamente gentile e disponibile con chiunque dopo lo show si avesse voluto presentarsi, parlare con lui e fargli qualche domanda, me compresa. In un mondo dove la moda diventa sempre più una realtà chiusa a pochi eletti, è bello trovare proprio nella capitale francese un evento aperto a tutti e una personalità altrettanto aperta e disponibile al contatto col pubblico.

Watching a fashion show is watching the heart and the mind of a designer opening to the public to show an emotion. For this reason, it has been a pleasure and an honour to assist to the CON-TOUR-NOIR 1 show by Irvinx at the Atelier Neerlandais in Paris. The creative mind behind the Irvinx brand, Irvin Vorster, is an eccentric Dutch couturier who appeared for the first time in 2004 and since then he creates avant-garde high-quality pieces, with attention to the sustainability, and designed for all the elegant women that don’t want to go unnoticed.
Last Friday’s show, CON-TOUR-NOIR 1, was no less. For his first appearance at the Paris Fashion Week (which will forecast a part 2), he decided to «tell a story» as he said to me post-show, through few looks marked by an absolute craftsmanship and by a great research on tailoring and contrasting fabrics. His models had stealthy step and a graphic intergalactic make-up. The dresses voluminous, structured and asymmetrical, made of a large variety of fabrics: leather, blue satin, fishnet, quilted. The perfect mix between a futuristic woman and a punk soul. «Everybody has a good side, but also an evil one: I wanted to show the latter». Very few accessories, apart from a leather bag and a bunch of cardboard masks that gave the models a mysterious touch.
It also deserves a special mention Irvin Vorster himself, who not only showed a high capacity of designing but has also been extremely kind with anybody who wanted to introduce himself, talk to him or ask him some questions, including me. In a world where fashion is becoming every day a more and more closed reality, reserved for few chosen ones, it has been amazing to find an open event and an equally opened person as him, so available to the contact with the public.
